Benjamin Logan Mini Realy for Life
Sets Records with Total Donations exceeding $20,000

Written by Nate Smith    Thursday, 19 May 2011

FCCLA Ohio - Benjamin Logan Relay for Life FundraiserBenjamin Logan junior high and high school students exchanged backpacks for walking shoes Wednesday during the ninth school wide Relay for Life fundraiser.

In all, 714 students combined with faculty and staff donations as well as those from the public to raise $21,650, easily besting the previous high-dollar total of $15,000 set last year.

“Coming in our goal was to raise more money than we did last year — about $15,000,” said Benjamin Logan family and consumer science teacher Lois Stoll — the faculty adviser for the school’s Relay for Life campaign. “I had absolutely no idea we’d see this level of donation.”

The money will be donated to the Logan County Relay for Life, in conjunction with all other county schools, at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center on June 18.

“This is the eighth or ninth year we’ve done this event,” Mrs. Stoll said. “In the first few years we might raise $3,000 or $4,000, but it has just exploded since.”
